Easiest travel route: fly to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Expect one night in Buenos Aires. Flight schedules to Esquel are usually Mon, Wed, & Fri on high season. Book the flight in advance. Transfer to domestic airport for a flight to Esquel, Argentina. (Plan for 1 hour of transport from International to Domestic in B.A.) Arrange transportation to Futaleufu, Chile. Esquel to Futaleufu: 2.5hours. 2. Longer but still good: fly to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Fly to Bariloche de los Andes, Argentina. Transfer to bus depot. Take a 5 hour bus** from Bariloche to Esquel. Arrange transportation to Futaleufu.Logistics on Travel 3. Adventurous and scenic: Fly to Santiago, Chile. Fly or bus to Puerto Montt, Chile. Fly or boat to Chaiten, Chile. Arrange transportation from Chaiten to Futaleufu on the Carrera Austral, a main transport dirt road that connects Patagonia to the rest of Chile. It is a 3 hour drive from Chaiten to Region X Adventure Camp. **The bus system in South America is very reliable and quite nice. Requesting an “executivo” or “salon cama” at the ticket booth is similar to riding first class in a plane. Regardless of seating status, you are served food and drinks. Toilets are available. The bus is an economical way to tour some of the countryside.
